Mock Crochet Afghan

I've just started an afghan on the new oval KK and I'm trying, for the first time, the Mock Crochet Stitch. I'm using one strand of worsted weight yarn and it seems a bit "airy" to me. I've looked at the video from Decor Accents several times and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right, is it supposed to be this open? I was thinking when I change colour I'll do a few rows of flat knit or maybe incorporate a heavier wool and then switch back to the Mock Crochet for the blue. If anyone has suggestions, before I get too far, please leave a comment.

I've also been trying to do an afgan on that new loom & am using a simple feed of 2 strands of worsted 4ply & the ewrap... now on the yellow kk loom this turns out a nice chunky "full" effect - but on this new loom it's "airy" .... is it the loom?
I wonder because the pegs are so much smaller & the space between is slightly smaller .. I just think the differences are having an effect.... I wish you luck.
