The Upper Pond

Today I was sitting and waiting for two muskrats to appear at the upper pond.  They were there when we first showed up and I managed to get one picture but they quickly disappeared.

I sat for an hour, even changing my locations a few times but they never came back.  I took a few pictures of the reflection in the water.

Yesterday Pops tried out the “new” potato harvester.  Hubby worked for two days to get it modified to hook up to a tractor instead of a horse but it still has some kinks that need to be worked out.

I converted a picture to make it look really old, it didn’t take much because it is really old. Smile  The patent on it says 1906 and it was made by the “Canadian Potato Machinery Co.”

Coming back from the Horn Field I stopped at the pond and took some pictures of the ducks, these ducks were born and raised on the Ranch.  Mini, our new puppy, was with me and when she saw the ducks she hightailed it right back to the house!

Fog on the Fraser River

Hubby and I headed out the other morning bright and early.  He was trying to get a deer up the mountain and I had my camera.  We didn’t see any deer but I sure got some great shots of the fog rolling across the Fraser.

The sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning, although a bit chilly.  If you’ve been to the Ranch before you can spot our house in the shot below.  Grandma’s house is sort of hidden in the trees.

I really like this pic, the way the fog has rolled over the Horn Field.  The two big buildings are the hay shed in the back and the barn in the front.

Fog above the Ranch

Some days the fog rolls right over our house and we can barely see the fields from the windows, now I can see why, it’s pretty thick here. Smile

While I was up the mountain I spotted a very lonely looking tree, I thought it would have made a great Halloween shot!

I’ve got to get up early tomorrow because I’m off to Lytton Elementary in the morning.  The Ministry of Education is sending their Professional Video Crew to shoot a commercial and Sydney will be one of the speakers for the Connected Classroom.  I’m so proud of her!  Timeline sounds like around six months (maybe sooner) and we should be seeing it on all the channels… albeit Canadian channels only I would guess.  With the Premier resigning today I hope things don’t change because the kids would be so disappointed.

Hay Halloween, not a typo.

Instead of heading into town to trick or treat we lit a fire and ate hotdogs, roasted marshmallows, and drank hot chocolate here on the Ranch.  My Mom and Robert were here and I think Mom had more fun sitting around the campfire than anyone!  Here she is with a load of marshmallows over the fire, good stuff. Smile

Dallas was in Vancouver for the weekend and didn’t get my message about stopping and picking up fireworks but we did manage to find one in the back seat of Hubby’s truck.

Last week Grandma and Pops were at the auction for the calves and Hubby and I fed the cows.  I sat in the centre of the round feeder and took a few pictures of the girls eating.

Tossin' heavy bales!

Munch, munch, munch

The girls certainly aren’t shy when it comes to food, it didn’t bother them one bit that I was there.

Mmm, mmm, mmm
