Wonderful pictures! Is that a ruby throated hummingbird? I've never had hummingbirds visit any place that I've lived. Thought we had some one year but they turned out to be hummingbird moths. Our neighbor when I was growing up had flowers that attracted hummingbirds. I need to find some trumpet vine. Some people consider it a weed because I understand once it takes root it's a b*tch to get rid of. But hummingbirds are suppose to be attracted by it.

Lucky you. I miss ours, but there is no species of hummer here in the UK.

Hi Moonshadow, right now all we're getting is Rufous and Allen's hummingbirds. I haven't seen any ruby-throated ones yet so far. One trick I've heard for attracting them is to tie red ribbons to the bottom of the feeder.
Tanita I had no idea the UK didn't have hummingbirds! I just assumed they were all over the world, ya learn something new everyday :)

I like how you got the wings so nice and clear. Great shots!

What kind of camera and settings are you using to get these great shots?

Nadine I'm currently using the Canon Rebel Xsi. The settings I use are manual: fast shutter speed, ISO is between 200 & 400, Aperture around f/4.0 depending on the lens I use. You can get more information at my flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kansasa/

(blushes) ... actually, I did know you had one, and you're on my friends list. I just hadn't added your flickr feed to my reader.
