Repeat after me...

I will NOT drink my first morning coffee beside my laptop...

I will NOT drink my first morning coffee beside my laptop...

I will NOT drink my first morning coffee beside my laptop...

I think.... I am.... going to.... cry....

UPDATE: Okay a few hours have gone by, a few cuss words too, and I've calmed down. Almost enough that I can now laugh along with Denise (the meany). She's probably covering her new PC tablet with plastic wrap as I type this!
I have my laptop up on it's side with a fan blowing into it and it will be left there for 24 hours. In the meantime I am stuck at my desktop and did some searching on spills. I won't go into detail but one step by step instruction that made me hilariously laugh was to not touch the laptop until you've flipped the breaker in your house! Now I don't know about you but my first reaction, without even thinking, was to hit the power button, flip the thing upside down, ripped the a/c cord out and then, like a mad woman (!!!), scramble to get the battery out... yup sounds like I did all the right things in perfect order too!

Oh, no!!! I know just what you are going through right now. I always have my morning coffee when I get online..

I am feeling for you and I hope you didn't get too much on it.

It may just dry and I hope no damage!

Kansas, I'm so sorry. I've spilled sweetened tea on my keyboard, but I know spilling on a laptop is A LOT worse. :( I hope it all works out and no permanent damage was done.

I'd actually be inclined to prop it up so that the keyboard is "face down" - so that you're not draining all of the coffee to one side, inside of the case, but you're containing it to the key section.

And no heat - just air.

Was there sugar & milk?

No milk and sugar... I drink black coffee with a splash of water so it wasn't screaming hot either.
Good idea about the propping, I'll go do that now :) I've been switching it around every few hours.

Hi Kansas...
Yikes!!! I hope it is all dried out by now and up and running. There must have been a lot of people reaching for their drink as they read your post. I got a chuckle out of Pat and her "Oh Crap!" saying. I don't think anyone says that quite like her.
Love ya!

I just spilled pop on my laptop two days ago and quickly pulled power cordout of back then ran and got my hair blower to dry out between keys and imagine my face when I see my keys melting!!!! I decided I'd call and use my warranty thats till covering my laptop and told them 4 keys and one shift key wore out and came off. They are sending me new keyboard but I have to send in tjhe old one in 5 days. I guess I'll send it in nd they'll figure out I threw the missing keys away. If they see they are melted I may not get covered under warranty. Other than that the laptop works fine. When I saw your picture of missing keys I had to laugh as it looks like mine but I only have 5 missing keys and tey are all right beside each other. Ladybugplus
