1992 Flickr Pictures
This is a neat and cool way to show all your pictures at Facebook, Flickr, or Tumblr. I had 1992 pictures when I made the slide show. If you’d like to try it go to Pummelvision.com, best of all it’s free!
I’ve created a Facebook Photography page on Facebook and if you’d like to join please click the icon on the right side of my blog, Facebook will open and then click “Like” while there. I find I’m putting pictures up at Facebook and Flickr before I get to my blog so if you’d like to see them earlier please join me at Facebook. :) I’m running a contest for a free print, get the details at http://www.facebook.com/Lillooet

Catch up
Playing catch up again on my blog… I need more days in the week. :)
We have a new dog! Mini Pearl is her name and she’s the cutest bundle of joy. :) She’s a Chi Apso, a mix of Chihuahua and Lhasa Apso.
The day we got her.
A few days later.
We’ve pulled the net out of the river this past week except for the weekend. We’ll probably put it back in again this coming weekend depending on how often Sydney and I drive back and forth to Lytton. The Lytton Riverfest Pow Wow is this weekend and we’d like to attend a few of the festivities.
There’s been several bears we’ve seen down at the river. This guy/gal was walking on the road and when he/she spotted us headed for a tree.
This was one of two but they didn’t get close enough together to snap a pic.
Lots of eagles have been hanging around too.
I’ve been practicing birds in flight and find it tough to lock in on them… with some advice from my fav teacher Davimack I will keep trying. :)
Pulling the net one morning we found a small sturgeon. Talk about prehistoric looking things!
One of the last days we were at the river the Fish Monitoring Boat crew came up and spoke to Hubby. They keep track of how many sockeye are caught on the Fraser River. All are quite friendly and a pleasure to speak with. :)
I’m still entering photos for the weekly assignments at DPS. This one took 1st runner up for Bugs and Insects last week. We found the nest in our travel trailer.
The latest assignment is Books and I’ve entered a pic of Sydney with “Books on the Brain.” It’s “Cars” after this one and I don’t have any idea what I’m going to do. Jevan’s hot wheels springs to mind but I’ll have to think on it. :)
Another batch of chicks….sighhhhhh, do Banties ever quit bringing home bundles??
Whew that’s it! Hopefully it won’t be as long before my next post, sorry to all my dial-up friends but I have reduced the size of the pics so hopefully they won’t take too long to load. :)

Winter, Summer… make up your mind.
We had a few, well barely a few, hot days and now we’re back to rain. I don’t know what’s going on with our weather but it’s quite the change from last year (or any year that I remember in Lillooet!).
Here’s a few pics I took the other night at the sunset out on the barn field.
One of the horses grazing before bedtime.
While Hubby and I were taking it all in, Pops came up on his four-wheeler. We just couldn’t get over how strong the glow was.
Within a few minutes it was almost gone… and with it so was our good weather for the next few days.
I’m so hoping it’s going to be nice for the weekend because we’re planning on heading over to the Ashcroft Rodeo. It’s been years since I’ve been to a rodeo and I’d love to snap some pics of the bull and bronc riding.
Over at DPS last weeks “Graveyard” assignment was judged this past Saturday and my “cross” pic didn’t make the top three. Oh well just gotta try harder I guess. :) This week it’s “Dutch Angle.” Yup I’d never heard of it before either lol. Apparently it’s when the camera is tilted like in the old Batman movies… but I remember the comic books more so than the movies (my brother was/is a die-hard collector and we always had tons around the house). Anyway back to Dutch Angle… I took a pic of the pigs waiting for their food and here’s the pic:
I have no idea if it’s what they are looking for but I did learn something new. :)
As always I had a second choice but I went with the sepia one, here’s the other one.
Something else happened this week that sort of shocked me. My aloe vera plant is going to flower! It may not seem like much but I’ve just never had one show a bud before. I saw one on Mikey’s blog and asked her about it moons ago but she lives in Arizona and I guess they flower down there a lot more than they do here.
I blogged about this Aloe Vera plant a couple of years ago and in that time it’s gotten a whole lot bigger with a ton of babies growing off of it! Can we say “outta control”? I’ve placed an arrow where the bud is.
Well that’s it for tonight, I’m off to bed, have a great night folks (or morning if you happen to be just getting up). :)

Another Assignment
This weeks assignment over at DPS is Cemeteries. The kids and I took a walk over to the graveyard (is there a difference between a cemetery and a graveyard?) so I could snap a few pics… well more like 150 before I finally settled on one I liked. :)
I made this cross for our graveyard back when we first moved to the Ranch in 2001. It’s got I don’t know how many coats of stain and varathane on it and it’s stood up to the weather quite well. I think for lying halfway down the bank on dried horse and cow manure with the sun blinding me the picture came out just the way I wanted it to (good Lord the things I’ll do for a picture!).
Jevan was invited to a birthday party last weekend and he really had a blast flying a kite in the school yard.
The string was out as far as it would go and with the windy weather the kite would go UP for a short time and then plunge to the ground. It’s too bad we didn’t have more string but Jevan didn’t care, he was having lots of fun!
I’ve also had a couple of new birds show up at my feeder this past week, Mourning Doves. Such a pretty bird and they sure have quite the shine to their necks.
Friday was Sydney’s 12th birthday and Jevan turns 7 on Monday so we are having a weeny roast with all the unhealthly snack foods tomorrow, including A&W root beer pop (My goodness Sydney can talk me into anything!). It’s getting late and I have a cake I have to bake first thing in the morning, have a great night all! :)

Exploring our own neighbourhood
Yesterday Hubby and I went for a drive looking for the Mama bear and her three cubs. We didn’t get more than two minutes down the road and a cub ran out in front of us. It wasn’t one of the cubs I’d seen from Izman Creek and, even though I had my camera in hand, he was pretty quick to hustle up the hill and was outta sight in a flash.
We travelled down to Buck Thomas’ old homestead, about 11 miles out of Lytton, near where I’d seen the Mama and her cubs. It didn’t take long before I spotted the Mama bear.
She didn’t see us right away and I quickly leaped out of the truck.
When she stood up I was shocked at how big she was!
I was a bit nervous at how far the door of the truck was away from me but didn’t have to fear anything… she came down quickly and her and her cubs swiftly ran off. We searched the area and didn’t see them again.
Coming up from the bottom field we stopped at Buck Thomas’ old homestead and poked around.
Inside the place is knee deep in hay and it looks as if animals have been sleeping in the corner.
The wood cookstove is almost buried in hay.
Looking out the living room window you see a massive lilac bush.
We did a bit more touring of the area and then headed for home. Along the highway you see tons of yellow flowers and I think everyone has their own name for them. :)
Speaking of flowers I did a Still Life assignment over at DPS this week. I had a hard time choosing what colour background I wanted to go with and ended up going against what most people said and submitted the white.
And this was the black one. I titled them “Still life… and death.” Hence the reason for the dead flower in the arrangement.
If you’d like to have the black background for your Windows Desktop Wallpaper click here and grab yourself a high res copy. :)
