Rattlesnake

One day, my brother-in-law Mike, walked into my kitchen holding an old oil bucket with a lid on top. He shook it, held it up to my ear and, with a sneaky grin on his face, said "Guess what's inside?"
Now, I didn't have a clue, what could he possibly have in there? After a few guesses, he took the lid off, and never in my life did I think he had this:

This critter happened to be on his lawn, and it's very much alive! After leaping out of my skin and telling him to get the heck out of my kitchen, I grabbed my camera :) And now you know why I wear those big oversize gumboots on the Ranch!

Oh, my..I don't like snakes. Not sure why but I guess I just haven't been around them enough to like them.. I am in no rush to either..lol..

Awww, he's only about 12 years old, if you can believe that whole thing about them getting another pair of rattles every year. :)

Did he end up as stew?

Hi Kansas...

Oh My!! I will not even be setting my dog on the ground. Please tell me these do not exist in the hayfields there or heaven forbid on your lawn. Maybe it just attached itself to Mike's car when he was out somewhere and he brought it home. I don't mind a little garter snake in the garden but this is an ugly looking mean thing. Is there an off season when they are not around???

Love Ya!

You have got to be joking!!!! Color me GONE!!I swear to God I would have had a heart attack. I'm scared to death of even a dead garten snake never mind something like that.

Hi Everyone:

I really enjoyed reading your stories, experiences, and joy concerning making your brandy. I'm teaching in Turkey where brandy, cognac etc. are banned from imports. So I'm going give your recipe a try. Would peaches be okay? Any suggestions/cautions about using peaches?

Hi Fred,
I haven't done peaches but I've heard that cutting the big ones and leaving the smaller ones whole is a good idea. Let me know how it turns out, I'm curious. :)
