On the way to the grocery store

On the way to the grocery store today Jevan and I ran right into a herd of big horn sheep standing on the road. These things are like cows and don't really move too far out of one's way, giving ample time to pull over and grab the camera. This herd is about 8 miles out of Lytton, where Sydney goes to school.

A bit hard to see but there was a group of very small little ones hiding behind the centre bushes, you can see one is sticking his head out.

Walking up to them they get a bit nervous but they don't stray too far. A friend heading towards Lillooet stopped and was snapping pics as well and they didn't seem to be bothered by either one of us. Thanks Randy for the elk pepperoni, it was delish!

wow kansas those sheep are something else.I was with 4 kids on highway 12 once and had to stop for a bear that was right in front of the car. If I had a camera it wouldn't have been any good as I was screaming at the kids to close the windows as I was backing up.The bear just meandered off. What a fright. And you got pretty close to those sheep. Being as they are in the wild I would have ran away. Excellent photos....

HOW COOL IS THAT!?
What a great place to live.

My sister often wrote me similar stories of her life in Alaska, but the big things she saw were moose - much less emotionally balanced, moose. If you got that close they would have tried to run you over!

Hi Kansas...
This is such an awesome sight. Great photos!!
It just amazes me to see how they just seem to blend in with nature. They seem so casual. I see that one with the full curl has a few nicks out of his big horns. I bet Jevan enjoyed seeing them. I wouldn't want to get to close to them.

Love Ya!

(Sitting with jaw in her lap) Gasp!

I am always happy when I catch a glimpse of a deer. But to have so many large critters with LARGE horns so close.......Oh my.
