Do I look like the Maytag Repairman?

Or, in this case, the Whirlpool Repairman? Can you believe I had to take apart all of this:
To get to this:
And then I have to order the part from the States (I wouldn't mind, if it could only be shipped using the Concord jet), because I really do not feel like washing dishes by hand for a couple of weeks! A woman and her dishwasher are never to be separated......groan, growl, whine, snivel.... And if anyone else is looking for this part, which I think whirlpool has intentionally kept the part number classified and top secret because I had a dickens of a time finding it, the part number is Check Valve Part#8268375. Sue me whirlpool I've let the cat out of the bag (wink, wink). UPDATE: Did I do something in a former life that was so horrible I am still being punished for it now? I phoned to order the part this morning because the site didn't have "Canada" in their list and I couldn't order it online. "Shelly" was having problems and asked if she could call me back. An hour and a half later I was told that it is out of stock and will take approximately 3 to 4 WEEKS to get here!! A MONTH of washing dishes by hand, oh my Lord... help me... I was five years old when Mom and Dad bought our first one... I am now just slightly past the age of 40ish... in between those years I could probably count on one hand how many times I've been without a dishwasher.

I see you have a little container for the small parts; good idea. We had a dishwasher that didn't seem to have the water flowing through. Sirdar took it apart and ended up with spare parts. We moved and it sits in the shed and when we were going to install a dishwasher in this place (because there wasn't one or a place for one), we ended up getting a free one from friends and the other one remains in the shed. One day we will take the time to drop it off somewhere. It was a dud from the beginning, we should have sent it back. I hope you get your part soon. We have 4 dishwasher besides the mechanical one, so I don't suffer to much when ours is out, except for seeing dishes on the counter, but still that doesn't seem to have changed as much as I would have liked.

I've a friend who used to be a repairman ... and he says that they do this on purpose: that they install a silicone part rather than a steel one, simply because it breaks, and enough people are idiotic enough to replace the whole machine that it makes it worth their while.

Good for you, for not giving in to their stupidity!

I haven't had a dish washer since about the age of 16 when the one in my mom's house broke and she decided not to bother fixing it. But with 4 kids who love to eat....I WANT ONE!!!!

I hope your part comes in sooner than they say.

we purchased and moved into the grandparents farm house on Jan 1 of last year. well...grandma didn't have a dishwasher, or a place for one, so we still haven't installed ours! I've been hand washing dishes for 13 months now. It gets to be less of a chore after about 8 or 9 months. ;o)

You must remember the maytag repair man commercial He never had anything to do. One day in the middle of vacuuming, I took my electrolux to the electrolux shop for a fix. I asked if I could wait and take it with me when he fixed it and he said no because he was just swamped. I suggested he quit electrolox and get a job with maytag and he was not at all amused. Auntie B
