A bundle of joy :)

I know most of my family members will be rather shocked with this post so to ease the blow I think I'll just post the card I was handed on Tuesday. If you're anything like me you might have to read it a few times to "get" it....

The front:

Yes I am going to be a Grandma! A Granny? An Ancient Mama? I have no idea what to call myself. My oldest daughter Dallas is pregnant, oh Lord I never, ever, in a million years, thought I'd be writing this! After growing up with two much younger siblings, (14 and 20 years apart) she always swore off having kids!

Dallas, the big chicken she is, and waiting around the corner, handed the card to Jevan to give to me. I was blabbin' on the phone with my Mom and had almost put the card down thinking it was a Mother's day card, a bit early but hey a card :) So as I'm chatting with Mom I open and read it, and then read it again, and yet again... the first thing through my mind was she got it on sale and that it was cheaper than a regular card. Reality was beginning to set in and I hollered at Dal "What's this!!?"

She, so innocently replied, "What?" and the rest is history.

I truly am happy for Dal, although I think she's too young, (what Mother wouldn't think that?) but I have to stop and realize that she is six years older than I when I had her 24 years ago. I so wish my Dad was here, he'd be so proud knowing that her due date is his birthday January 9th!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone! Or "Grandmother's Day" :)

What joyous news! After the shock wears off, you'll realize just how wonderful this will be. Another precious someone to knit for. Someone you can cuddle and snuggle and hand off when they fill their diapers. Someone to feed Capt. Crunch and Mtn. Dew and then send home. Oh the wonderful time you'll have with your first grandchild! And you're young enough that people will wonder if you're the Mommy, for surely you couldn't have any grandchildren yet!
I'm thrilled for you. You'll come around :)
And Dallas gets Style Points for delivering the Good News with panache.

Thank you all for the congrats and some for the sympathy ;) I don't think I'll really comprehend this until my grandbaby is placed in my arms... and then I might have a hard time handing him/her back!... well until the diaper is full :)

This really is good news....I know I thought that I was so full of love with my babies were born, but this grandma thing is why cooler. So often when the grandsons were babies I would just hold them and cry for the joy in my heart. Many blessings to you all.

Hugs, Louise

I'm so excited for you Kansas. Now, the more eccentric Maw Maws down here in the South go by "Honey". I think that will be my name when it's my turn to be Grandma. Congratulations! What a fun time for your family!
