Twirly Skirt

Yesterday I sewed up a Twirly Skirt for Sydney. I dug through my stash of fabric and came up with two that fit together, I am really low on cotton because of the aprons I made at Christmas. I printed out the tutorial and based it very loosely on that. (Can we say "very loosely" in a stretched out voice?")

I basically cut out the body, the hem, and the waist, all the same width, just different lengths and then serged it together. For the waist I used 1 inch elastic, inserted it with a paper clip (yes I said paper clip) because I couldn't find a safety pin in my house! I have got to get to a fabric store :) After all was serged, I then used the sewing machine to sew all the seams flat, I think that gives it a nice finish. Today I have to even out the elastic and sew it down in spots, now that Sydney has finally taken it off.

Oh, that is so pretty! I wish I could sew. I can use the machine and make something that nobody will really look at...but I'm hopeless otherwise! =)

That was very cute - nice to have those little helping hands. Nice that you took the time with him to make your bannock. Hey, you could make a book out of this story.....
