Posting?

I'm sitting here wondering how many posts is too many or not enough? Some people post three times a day at their blog... some post every few days, some start a blog and within a short time the novelty wears off and they never post again. If you have a blog, do you plan your posts and have some ready to go at any given time? Or do you post when the whim hits you? Do you wander through the week looking at everything thinking "Hey that would make a great post!" Do you fret over not having anything to post about? Do you have heart palpitations when your internet is down and you can't post? And if you don't have a blog how often do you read people's blogs? Is it the first thing you do each morning? If you use Bloglines or Google Reader do you ever look at your "unread" list and think "Holy crap how am I ever going to read them all?" Do you ever hit the "mark all items as read" without reading them? Okay, okay, enough questions.... well one more... are you going to answer any of my questions in the comment section or are you going to leave me wondering?

Kansas, LOL. I usually just post when the whim strikes. I try not to let more than 10 days go between posts, but sometimes life happens. I'd love to post everyday, but I don't think there is that much of interest in my life to post daily. :)

Posting slavishly, without inspiration, is something that people get over, hopefully. Yes, there are some people who approach this as if they had a deadline & a dedicated readership ... and they do. But, if you dabble around the fringes of the whole blog thing, as I do, then you frequent low-traffic blogs & tend to build relationships with the other bloggers. And I post whenever the whim takes me. And I comment, so that those low-traffic bloggers know that somebody actually reads things without hitting "mark all as read."

But I don't necessarily comment on every post, because not every post needs my input. And 'cause I've got to have some time to post for myself, too!

Hmmm....all of the above!!

Lately I've been feeling overwhelmed with the stuff of life and feeling guilty because I've not posted very much (and what I HAVE posted is mind-numbingly BORING...); I'm staying up late just to catch up on some blog reading (I've missed visiting with everyone...); Sometimes I DO plan some things to post - other times I just babble and then hit the "publish" button. And yes, when my internet is down, I go through some withdrawl - or when life is very busy and I can't get online, I go through some withdrawl. And yes, sometimes I fret because I have nothing worth saying...=)

I agree with DaviMac. I post something when the mood strikes, or when Bill nags that I haven't posted in a while. I visit a few high traffic blogs (some of which I never comment on) but most are low traffic. I an a commenter if I feel like I actually have something to add.

Because you asked...Some days I'd Blog in the Morning, Noon and Night. Some days I feel like the Niagra Falls of things to Blog about. And then, it hits -- Nothing to Blog About. Since my readership is mostly family and close friends, I try not to go too long between posts, lest they think something terrible has happened. I try not to limit my Blog to one theme or another, so I can go on at length about many, many things. And I read other Blogs - many of them - daily. I love to see what everyone else is doing with their lives.

Since I'm now connected to bloglines, they tell me whenever there is a blog to read [I'm not constantly checking bookmarks anymore]. Occasionally I do comment.
