Trip to the City

I got up early, really I did, with full intentions of shopping until I dropped. I was heading off to Kamloops to pick up a new laptop, an external harddrive, a few groceries, and some Christmas presents. Dallas, my oldest daughter, was coming with me. All went well until Jevan got car sick... all he had was a gravol pill... how the heck does a kid puke up just one itty bitty gravol pill? Then we get to town and Hubby calls, gotta run over and pick up some parts. That takes almost an hour. Dallas wants to say hi to her Sweetie working nearby, that takes an hour. So we finally get back on track, (after all we're here to shop right?) and coming up a long hill she hits something on the road. Other than a "thump, thump" we wouldn't have known, neither one of us saw whatever it was. The first stop for me is the computer store, I've been waiting for about a month for my laptop to come in and today was the day I was picking it up! I'm quick, real quick and that was a good thing. Next we are heading to a restaurant because Jevan's gravol pill didn't really qualify for breakfast, especially when he didn't keep it down. In the parking lot Dallas asks me if I hear something? It's the tire going flat! We negotiate what we are going to do and the best answer was to jump in and head to the nearest tire store, who wants to get dirty changing the tire in a parking lot? Luckily it turned out to be a Kal Tire, it's where I buy my tires from at home.

Meet the man that tells me it will be 45 minutes to even get my SUV into the shop! My biological shopping clock is ticking down fast.

So the first time I fire up my new laptop is in the showroom of a Kal Tire store, how exciting (I'm being sarcastic here). The only plus was that because I had bought my tires from a Kal Tire it was free of charge to have it fixed. And of course while I was in the showroom I had to think of blogging stuff. So here's where all the Kal Tire's are located throughout Canada. I added the "you are here" bubble because I was bored. If you're still interested that little blurb about the founder was quite interesting. Tom Foord was born in Saskatchewan, but later moved to Vernon, not too far away from Kamloops. He opened his first store there and the head office is still there today.

Enough of the history lesson. About two hours later we are back to shopping! Jevan is happy with a hotdog from Costco, I don't even think about stopping to eat, I am in search of a 1 terabyte wireless external harddrive (can you feel my excitement?) Well apparently a few thousand other people got excited too because it was sold out :( I knew I should have picked it up a few weeks ago when I was over, darn it. We did finally manage to get to a sit down restaurant and it was Jevan's favourite place; McDonalds. He has a super time playing in the kid's play area and I get a minutes peace. Here he is coming out of one of the slides.

The day wasn't exactly as planned but Dal and I made lemonade with all the lemons that were thrown at us, and we did enjoy each other's company. I'm working with the new computer setting up and installing everything, is anyone else have a love/hate relationship with Vista?

Hi Pat...
Not only did I forget your meat but I also forgot that my car insurance ran out at midnight! We had to find an insurance office while we were there too! Yes it was definitely one of "those" days :)

Hi Kansas...
It sounds like some kinda day! I'm glad you and Dal made the best of it anyway and had some Mom-daughter time fun. You deserve it.
I do love the ingenuity of the photo. Great picture!

Love Ya!

Oh, my goodness!! I had to laugh (but it was WITH you...not AT you...) I'm glad that you and your daughter got to be together through it, though! =)

Adorable picture of Jevan (but when are they NOT adorable??)

I have not tried Vista yet, although I can get it for my computer as part of the package that my dh got for me. I've not heard many happy things about it, so I'm not sure I even want it.

We are mac users. You couldn't get my hubby to touch vista with a ten foot pole. I know people who feel the same way about mac's .

Gotta love a MaDonalds play land!
