A First for Me

Yesterday my sister Biffy sent me a fax. No big deal, right? But it was! It was a colour fax. A colour picture of my niece Shaylee and her son Julian. I remember the first fax machine I bought; a Canon. Within two days I had to return it because it was faulty, and I ended up with a Brother Fax machine. I still have it... and I still use it. It has the thermal paper rolls, the little mirror inside that always needs cleaning, and it sits in my living room... and has never failed me. That is quite surprising when I think that it's 13 years old and most electronics don't make it past year two, or usually just past their warranty date. It even brought me luck the day I bought it. Long story short; while taking back the faulty fax and picking up the new one I stopped at the kiosk and bought a couple of scratch tickets. Back at the truck Dallas and I each scratched the tickets, I won 1000 dollars!
So now I have an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax, and it accepts and sends colour faxes. But... and I really mean but... it's temperamental at best. I really don't think it's going to last 13 years and I think I'll just leave my old fax machine right where it is... for now :)

Here's the picture Biffy sent me:

They don't make things like they used to. The more defined the technology, the more trouble we can have with it. Used to be, back yard mechanics could fix a motor on a vehicle. Now they are not called mechanics, but technicians because of the computerized parts of the the engine. So more technology also costs more in repairs also.

My sparkly new HP colour all-in-one is soooooooo problematic that I just set up my old Panasonic fax machine. It's not as old (or lucky) as your Canon, but it sent the fax on the first try.
