Wow! A whole week!

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted! Actually I took a week of not even reading posts at all too. I've decided to hit "mark all read" in my google reader as I'm now past 400, actually 404 as of this morning. Do you ever get so overwhelmed obsessed with something that it feels like a chore to do, so you keep putting it off and it just gets worse? This reminds me of weeding the garden. Well I'm to that point and I think it's best to just start over. Sorry for all the missed comments but I hope that I can keep up now that I am starting with a clean slate :) What's been happening on the Ranch... well there's been a ton of calves born and fences are all mended thanks to my niece Jess, and she really does a great job! I'm trying to capture video of a calf being born but not having much luck. Actually that's a good thing because it means the Mama cows are not having any problems. Yesterday everyone got together to round up the cows and give them their vaccines but I had to drive Grandma down to Hope and pick up Aunty Helen (my border fairy). She's not feeling to well and needs to come up here. It was Grandma's 68th birthday yesterday, so I let her buy me lunch in Hope LOL! Hey I offered to pay but she insisted, great MIL when it's her birthday and she takes me out for lunch :) I have worked out most the kinks with the new all in one printer, it's just the darn duplex that is still giving me problems and Hubby keeps working on that. One of the biggest problems was sending print jobs over and only having them partially print. After scouring the net for a solution I found this. This is not limited to just print jobs but also copying large files across a network with Vista too. It worked like a charm and each time I find what I'm looking for at a website I am so grateful for the internet :) While I'm talking "technical" I thought I would show you what I did with my old laptop:
Ripped 'er right down to the mainboard! The culprit as to why it wouldn't charge is where the a/c adapter plugs in, a common problem on older Toshiba and Gateway laptops. Unfortunately the company I ordered the part from sent the wrong part, grrrrrh, so I put it all back together (with no leftover parts) and shipped it off to the company along with the incorrect part. They can rip it back down and fix it. At least it's now sparkling clean and I now know it inside and out!

I can SO relate to the high reader count...mine is currently at 329 and it seems I make a tiny bit of progress, but next time it has shot back up! LOL! I've wanted to hit the Marked As Read for all of them, but then afraid I'll miss something! =)

Glad to hear you are well and just busy on the ranch!

Tell the kids hello from VA!

I can relate to being overwhelmed. I have had a bunch in my reader, and ignored it for a long time and just read blogs through my sidebar for a couple of months. By the time I went back to the reader, I felt I had read all I had wanted to of the posts in the reader. Mind you, I only have people on my reader who are on my blog roll. So far, I have been keeping up pretty good, but there have been some posts I have browsed when I have been behind.

I am not much of a techie, so most computer stuff goes over my head. Good for you, taking apart the laptop and figuring what is wrong and not having leftover parts.

Kansas,

Glad to see you finally posted BUT that mess on your table would give me nightmares. I can't believe you didn't have any SPARE parts. Good Girl.....Pat

Now that laptop looks like something else alright. You actually put it back together. as for the company! They will chuck it in the garbage.

I keep my feeds in a reader in separate folders - comments all in their own folder as well in the main folders. That way I can go through & say "mark all as read" on the comments, on the pictures, maybe, or on the "casual" feeds, but still have ones like yours hang about waiting to be read. Works better that way.

I love that you use a paring knife to take apart your computer. It seems quite familiar - and I was in IT for 10+ years. :)
