An extra 20 minutes at breakfast sound good?

Do you ever want sausages or bacon for breakfast or supper but they're frozen, it's too much hassle to drag out the pan, hate the clean-up or you haven't the time?

Buy a large family pack of any kind of sausage, this will also work for bacon too. You're going to cook them all at once. Sometimes I cook up two or three packages at one time.

Cover a broiler pan or cookie sheet with tinfoil, spray a bit of Pam on it, and spread out the sausages or bacon.

Cook for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until they are done to your liking. It doesn't matter if they are a tad undercooked. If you're cooking bacon you'll reduce the time.

I often serve what I need for supper so those ones get cooked all the way through.

Then I vacuum seal the rest into smaller packages, label & date, and toss in the freezer. If you find they are too soft or greasy then first freeze them on a cookie sheet and then vacuum seal them.
Fast forward a bit: it's breakfast, you want sausage, your son wants bacon, and your daughter wants both! Throw a frozen vacuum sealed bag into the microwave and nuke for a few minutes, they'll cook a bit so this is why they can be slightly undercooked when frozen. Tada! Not even a pan to wash up!

I usually do up about 6-7 packages at a time. If you add up the time I don't have to thaw, cook, and cleanup every time someone wants sausages or bacon, it's quite the time saver, and much cheaper than buying pre-cooked :)

What an awesome idea! Why I never thought of doing this is beyond me. In fact I think I'll cook & freeze some today :)
I think your posts are great and look forward to everyone of them. I have limited time to spend on here these days so I haven't left any comments recently :( I just wanted to apologize for that since you make the effort and time to post. :)

A wonderful idea. I have done this before, but not in awhile. Thanks for renewing the thought in my mind. Loved the photos too.

Great idea. I am sure they taste better than any precooked you can buy. Nifty time saver!

Brilliant! Especially the tin foil part! I hate to scrub sausage pans.

I even broil hotdogs [because I like them burnt] and then freeze them, so everyone can have them the way they like. I have been buying the sausage patties at Costco and they are micro.at a min or two.

Hugs, thanks,

This is great! We do this same thing when we're going camping ... saves time and they thaw out fully cooked so there's no worry about the ice chest not being cold enough! Lovely blog, have had a great time wandering about. Thanks!
