On Saturday the hummingbirds showed up and it didn't take long before they started flying in the house. Today this little one flew in my canning room and was caught in the window. With one hand I managed to get my flashcard into the camera and snap a picture before he flew off. If it's anything like last
year I'd best buy some more sugar!

Awww, the wee thing! So precious. I love hummingbirds. We don't have a lot around here, only ruby-throated and you don't see them too often unless you have the right kind of flowers in your garden.
Oh wow! That's amazing! The video is great too. So close and not shy at all. Wonderful to see.
Ours in California were silvery, white and green, and the Ruby's, of course, had read throats with the one white band, so it's so neat to see yours -- all the brown colors are gorgeous. I don't think there are hummers in the UK, though, which kind of breaks my heart. I guess it's just too cold here. (Although it begs the question as to how YOU could have them -- it's colder there!?) I'll have to sit on the back porch of our house (currently being rented to my sister) and commune with my hummers for awhile this summer when we're home.
The most exciting thing for me, though, is that your hummers are definitely a sign of spring - no going back now, the birds are back in town!
Awesome shot! And a totally different looking hummer than the kind we'd get in California, that's certain!
Wow! I can't believe you caught it in your hand!!! Amazing!
good photography kansas ab
Excellent shot! WOW!I never expected to see a shot like this anywhere! I didn't think they could stay still that long. LOL It's so cute!
What a beautiful sight to see in the morning. Great shot Kansas. You had to be quick for this one.
Love Ya!
Thank you all for the comments! At the rate they've been coming I expect to see a lot more in the next couple of days, let's hope for more pictures.
Amazing picture! I think I'm going to put a hummingbird feeder out this year. I love to watch them.
That is so cool. I saw the video too. They seem way more friendly than the ones around here. Perhaps I need a feeder.
Beautiful bird!! I've never seen one that color - the only ones we have around here are the ruby-throated ones that are that jewel green/blue color. Our's have not returned yet, but I've put the feeders out because they should be here any day now! I can't wait!
This is an awesome picture!
ooooo, he's pretty! Buy sugar in bulk!
