Close eye on my garden

There's three woodpiles just past my garden. Last week I thought I saw a Siamese cat hopping across the field and head into one of the woodpiles. I know we don't have a Siamese cat on the ranch so I grabbed my binoculars, and my dog Blue, and headed up to take a look. On the very top of one of the piles I spied a marmot. He quickly jumped down, with Blue in hot pursuit, and managed to get inside the pile. Marmots chirp, almost sounding like a bird, and there was quite a bit of chirping going on but Blue couldn't get him. Yesterday the marmot came out again, this time camera in hand, I managed to get some pictures. The marmot was under one layer of lumber and it was quite the sight to see Sydney lifting up boards so I could get a picture. The marmot was way too fast once she got the last board lifted but I did get a couple of pictures while he was laying flat.
He/she is cute and all but unfortunately they like to dig holes and my garden isn't safe, nor the field. I'm letting Hubby deal with it when he gets home so hopefully the marmot finds another place to live in the meantime.

Definitely a cute critter. We have a problem with moles around here. We have a bunch of piles of sand all over the yard, and when you knock one over, there is a fresh pile in the same spot, or near by. I am sure they are cute too, but so annoying.

We have gophers and deer visit in our garden so I know what you mean!

Are these like gophers/ground hogs? We have alot of them around here - but they look a little different. Yours are a pretty color! It seems like everything in Canada has a pretty color - hummingbirds, clouds, marmots, chickens...
