Sydney "The Tempest"

All the Saturday rehearsals were well worth it! I attended Sydney's play last night in Lytton and I was quite impressed with all the kids! She's been practicing for quite a few months, including having us drive into the school for a few Saturdays.

The play was Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and Sydney's part was Princess Miranda. As well as acting, she sang solo, the song was "I can See Clearly Now." I couldn't have been prouder of her :) The lighting was pretty low but I did manage to capture Sydney on video. I should add that none of the dialogue was changed in the play, the kids really learned to speak like Shakespeare intended.
If you can't view the video at my blog click here to see it at YouTube.

Here's a few pictures of the performance. Sydney's teacher, Mr. White, has brought a lot of acting into the school. He's quite the entertainer and it's been great having him at the school. Sydney will sadly miss him when she goes into grade five in September. She's had Mr. White for two years in a row and is hoping he "might" teach grade five next year.

Sydney and her class performed in Vancouver last Thursday and then last night for us. She has one last performance today for the students at the school. School is out on Thursday and then it's two months of freedom :)

Brava Syd!

Lucky girl to be learning to hold herself with confidence and perform so early! All pre-fifth grade! She's going to be a force of nature by high school!! Great job, Mom!

Sydney did a great job. How wonderful to have a teacher to bring the arts into the school. You should be proud of her.

We do drama camp and I love to do the acting and the kids like the camp too, and I know how proud I am when they do a good job.
