Pregnancy Pictures

My "baby" with her "baby."

Here's a few pictures of Dallas, Duane, and even Jevan getting into the action.  The time is getting close, less than a month to go, and I'll be a GRANDMA!!  Okay we already have a "Grandma" on the ranch so can anyone come up with something a bit more original?  Dally wanted to call me GG (Gee Gee), but I'm not comfortable with that.  Anyone?  This is gonna be stuck to me until I die so I'd like it to sound good.... help!

I feel like I'm putting an ad in the paper:

WANTED:
A hip name to give to a person who is really too young to be a grandma... any reasonable offer considered.  Cannot be Grandma, Oma, or Nanny.

Edit:  A few people have asked who took the pictures of Dallas, just wanted to let you all know I did.  I put up a green screen, cleaned out what is supposed to be my spare bathroom one day, and set up a tripod and snapped away.  It was fun :)

What about NANA. Sweet and simple, not too old and yet it signifies you are the childs grandmother.

Long time reader de-lurking here. Congratulations on the impending arrival :) My mom was named ya-ya by my kids. It is the Greek way of calling your Granny, but my kids didn't know that, they just liked the sound :)

WOW. It all happens so fast. My sister is due in June...

So, the name game in our family was entertaining; people from the American South (like my parents are) have tons of names for grandma. My great grandmother was called Big Ma, my grandmother Madear -- a contraction of Mother Dear. (They pronounce it madea, because "dear" is "dee-ah," if you're from New Orleans.) I've also known people who were Nona, Amma, Manna, Mimi, Meema, Mati (which is Ukranian for mother, incidentally) and Maire.

Or, maybe you can let the baby make up his or her own mind who you are.

(Meanwhile, I'll bet your husband is not having any existential weirdness about what the kid calls him. I have no idea how some men get by without actually caring about these things.)

Hi, Sorry I haven't commented in quite some time, as usual. I just wanted to thank you for posting about a name to be called when the baby is born. I seem to be having the same problem. My daughter is due in March. I've been given all the names you have..one was "Glamma" for Glamour Grandma. I don't think it's quite me..Thought I'd throw that in to the pool for you to decide.
My mom was called Grandma Nanny. My daughter had trouble saying grandma for awhile but not nanny. You are so right! The name will stick for life and well possibly beyond. "Grandma Nanny" is on moms headstone..
My daughter and I have decided that my husband will be called "Granddude". Now if there was a female version of that I may consider it..
Love the pictures by the way. Dallas looks very happy and content.

Congratulations, Kansas! I'm a "Nana", but there are many choices these days. Google "grandmother names" and you'll come up with all sorts of choices; however, for you I really like Nona-K.

Hey Kansas, I'd say Nana or Nan its for a young hip grandmother like yourself.
Hugs Julie, walker and the kids
ps Merry Christmas to you all

One of my Grand Sons gave me my name on his first birthday! I am called MiMi. I also was too young to be a Grandma when my first Grandchild was born (36). So if you want to use MiMi be my guest. It is very easy even for the youngest to say.

Let your grandchild decide. My oldest niece decided that my mom is Grandmoo. When my daughter was 18 months every time I said Grandma or grandmoo she cried and shook her head. There is a Greek grandma on my brother's block everyone calls Yai yai (pronounced yaya). I mentioned her in passing and my daughter lit up and my mom is now Yaiyai and my dad is Papu. Your granddaughter will give you a name that is both suitable and savvy in the mean time call yourself whatever makes you comfortable.
