Have you ever had a Score bar?

Okay I admit...I love Score bars! I don't eat them much anymore mostly because of the calories but I do make my own every once in awhile. These make great gifts in Christmas baskets, tuck a few pieces into a colourful baggy and they look great. As for the recipe you are not going to believe that these are made with whole soup crackers. I don't quite remember where this recipe came from so I'm sorry I can't give credit where credit is due, but whoever came up with this I thank them :)

Chocolate Cracker Bars

These taste almost like Score Chocolate bars and you would never know you are eating soda crackers!

40 or so crackers, salted or unsalted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter, no substitutes (I've used a 50/50 butter/marg blend and it worked)
1 package semisweet chocolate chips (12 oz or 345g) (I've used milk chocolate (my fav), mint, semi-sweet and all different amounts, sometimes more - sometimes less depending on what's in my cupboard!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place whole crackers on sheet. Melt butter and sugar in saucepan over medium-high heat.
Heat to boiling; boil until sugar is completely dissolved. Spread over crackers.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; let stand for 3-5 minutes.
Using paint brush/barbeque brush/silicone brush or even the back of a spoon, spread melted chocolate over baked crackers. You can sprinkle coloured sugar crystals on top or whatever you want, red & green for Christmas, orange for Halloween, etc. Cool in fridge until hard.
Break into chunks or cut into squares.

Hi Julie, oh I bet little Walker is gonna love them, Jevan & Sydney sure do! The zucchini recipe tastes even better if you can let it sit for a day or two but that's impossible with my family :) LOL

I'm enjoying reading all your recipes! I wonder - they sell those toffee bits now...I wonder if there is a way to melt them - or maybe dip the chocolate-covered crackers in the toffee bits before the chocolate hardens...

I plan on making as much of my Christmas gifts this year as possible! =) Do you mind if I use some of your recipes?

My co-corker made these and brought them to work a month ago. All of us ladies at the office loved them! All of a sudden this after noon at work, I had a sudden craving for them! Thank you so much for the recipe! They are YUMMY!!!!

About to make these... I know they will be a hit. It's "SKOR" bars, by the way. (trying to be Swedish, perhaps?)
Thanks
